Salomon snowboards 2002 models (4/12/01) :

The Salomon range as per last year starts with the Driver series; this full tip to tail wood cored board offers an easy to ride forgiving nature. Graphically a lot stronger than last years board the Driver comes in a good selection of lengths from 140 through to 165 with a wide 160.

Again continuing unchanged from last season is the Classic series. Initially planned not to return this season the Drivers strong sales kept this board in the range. Ideal for riders of all abilities the Classic utilises an Aspen wood core with Salomon's monoquque construction and a 2000-sintered base to give a good responsive ride to riders on a budget.

The Transfer series is aimed at riders looking for a board that has all the performance of a mid range board but at a lower price. The Designers have engineered the Transfer with a stiffer torsional flex, this is achieved with the HTC system. This cross braces the board to increase the stiffness giving a more responsive all mountain feel. The extruded base helps keep the costs down thus reducing the price to give better performance at a lower price. Available in a range of sizes from 144-161 and wides from 156-163.

For freestyle riders looking for good performance without braking the bank, the Prospect series should appeal. Stiffness has again been beefed up with the HTC system. Edge bite is improved with the new the new contour core, this places stiffer wood along the edge for increased grip on icy surfaces. Ideal for park and pipe riding. Again available in standard and wide widths.

New for this season is the Mandate, this is designed to give good all mountain performance but still remain relatively forgiving to ride. The HTC system is beefed up with Carbon fibre to increase snap and power out of the turn. With a slight increase in overall dimension the Mandate is designed to offer more stability and increased float in soft snow. Sizes range from 147-165.

The 450 series is carried over from last season but features all new construction. The core now uses Salomon's Isowood technology. This combines full length's of beech, which is combined, with Rohacell composite to give a weight saving of 15% over the standard wood core. The 450 gives a responsive ride over all types of terrain and snow conditions.

The W4 offers larger footed riders the same all mountain performance as the 450, but the chassis is beefed up with the HTC system to offset the extra width of the board and give a responsive ride on a par with the 450.

The Fastback series from last season returns, but in a range of sizes to suit all riders. With a fully directional shape the fastback is aimed at riders looking for all mountain performance. Available in 155,160,163,167,174 the fastback is ideal for riders wanting improved performance on piste and in deep snow.

The Women specific Ivy is aimed at riders wanting a board that will handle all styles of riding. The new slot core reduces the weight of the board by removing unnecessary material giving a lighter more forgiving ride.

The seek is aimed at women riders looking for a powerful all mountain freeride board. The slot core reduces the overall weight of the board, whilst the HTC Glass/Carbon bracing increases the torsional stiffness to give a more responsive ride and improved edge control.

For freestyle riders looking for a super responsive all mountain board Salomon have the Sequence. This board utilises the Carbon HTC system with the Isowood core to give a snappy and reactive ride. The core is increased in thickness towards the tail of the board to give more power off the tail for increased height off hits. The lengthened nose gives a stable ride over uneven snow conditions.

The new Daniel Franck has been increased from 153 to 155 to increase the effective edge. In addition to the increase in length Salomon have changed the sidecut geometry's, this works with the Carbon HTC system to give more power on the transition making it ideal for the new generation of super pipe.

New for this season is the Definition, replacing the 550 series from last season it is aimed at freeriders looking for a high performance all mountain board. Designed by Steve Gruber and Wolle Neyvelt the Definition combines the new Isotwin core with Carbon HTC and a new sidecut geometry to give powerful edge response and control.
