Airwalk International LLC, the holding company of the Airwalk, Genetic, and Ripzone brands, has in effect, changed its name to Tare7. They want to expand and acquire new brands and by changing their name to Tare7 the new brands will not have to use the name 'Airwalk'. Airwalk has been on a mission to revamp its image since 2000 by moving headquarters to Colorado, hiring new management, launching Genetic (the skate-shoe brand) as well as opening a new design centre in Puson, South Korea.
New products are already making their way onto the slopes for discreet testing. Completely new baseplates on Drake bindings with a new quick ratchet are being ridden as we speak, and a Jeremy Jones signature boot from Northwave has been manufactured.
Blax have dropped the 'Blax' name and will be branded under their parent company Head. Word has it that their concept 'Dimensionals' range of boards (based on width rather than length) has received extra models and has been well received during snow tests.
A snowboards will be introducing wide models at three strategic levels within their board program plus all new vertical laminate cores and an interesting edge construction technique. Reports from UK International team rider Jamie Baker confirm the improved level of performance.
